Default Holley carb availability

Has anyone experienced any delays from your vendors in providing Holley carburetors.

I have placed an order with my supplier for a Ultra Street Avenger 6 weeks ago and was told know one seems to know why it can't be supplied.

Has there been any supply issues out there?

Think I'd have to call Just picked up an Ultra SA 670 three weeks ago, it shipped the day after I ordered it.

Also just checked summit, their estimate on shipping is "Today"

Might want to cancel that order

Summit is the way to go. I ordered a Holley recently for my 65 and I had it in 3 days.

Holley's customer service, since buying up all the competitors (Hooker, Mr. Gasket, etc., etc.) has gone to crap. Even large suppliers such as Summit cannot get deliveries on time from Holley, and Holley disregards promise dates and delivery requirements - they've gotten a little big for their britches. It's not the retailer's problem - Holley is giving their distributors/retailers the shaft. Unless the retailer has the item on the shelf, Holley is not providing timely deliveries or support. I've had Holley items on back order for months, with Holley "promising" shipment every 2 weeks. It's no wonder that competitors such as Barry Grant and QuickFuel are taking a chunk out of Holley's market share. Too bad there's no equivalent to Hooker, or I'd be switching brands on that, too.

Thank you all for your replies.

Lars, what other carb manufacture would you recommend? I wanted to stick with a square bore. I ordered the Ultra SA 670 because of good reports.

I have a 650 dp, dual feed, square bore with electric choke for sale if you can use that. It works fine. I changed it out for a 600 dp.

I've had very good success with Barry Grant Speed Demons and Mighty Demons as well as with the QuickFuel "Q"-series carbs for street cars.

I wish to inform you all that I did recieve the carb today. I do note two different fuel floats, one being copper/solder and the other plastic, oh well, might as well get rid of old stock if this is the need; tounge in cheek.

If I was to attend a car show I would have lost for all of the polishing compound left on the main body within the fins on the side and lettering on the body. Good thing the main base was red which matched the metering blocks. I hope I did not purchase an unemployed 3310.

Although I have not run the carb I am not impressed. Having being self employed for 11 years and no experiance in bankruptcy, I found the common denominator was customer satisfaction. If I was in bankruptcy I would personally reinvest with the client that made me successful. Although I have not run this carb, I feel for the poor worker that went through the motions with no thought of where the carb would end up at. I can't blame the worker but I can blame the orginization. Treat your employees with compensation and respect and they will always bring you through the hard times. When there is no employee engagement it is only a formula for failure. Look at your market share, look at your emplyees and do the basic math.

Try paying $800+dollars for an HP Ultra Holley only to find the assembler left brass shavings in the metering blocks when they screwed the emulsion restrictors in, then buttoned it up and shipped it. Got to love the current quality of some products

I was at a Chrysler dealership about 4-5 years ago, well before any this banking debacle and gov bailing out the car manufacturers. Anyway
every year or two I have to replace my windshield squirters they crack and break and I squirt about a gallon of windsheild cleaner all over the engine from the broken off hose before I realize what happened again.

The first time it happened it wasn't covered by my extended warranty ( there is a secret list somewhere of what's covered and what isn't and I am not allowed to see it, so it was a crapshoot every time I went in there whether this or that was covered )

So I had to buy one and went to the part counter and asked for one and the guy said they come in packages of two so I have to buy 2 for $30 or more I can't remember but it's $3 item.

At that time I told him " You know I don't blame you but I blame the people that run the show for this kind of crap you hand a customer. Chrysler is huge but if it continues even a company this size can go out of business " to which I got no reply.

I guess what I am a saying in regards to the crappy parts and lousy or non existant customer service is:

"DAYTONA BEACH — Crane Cams, a 56-year-old auto parts manufacturer, closed its doors this week and laid off its employees, a worker said today."

Not sure why there is always such holley bashing going on. I have a 670 Street avenger and had none of the issues other had. I have also read posts where they were being recommended. No company in todays world of JIT is as good as it was 25 years ago. To control cost you keep inventory down. The larger suppliers do this the same as the manufacturers. I know if I need another carb it will be a Holley. I've had a few and all were easy to set up and had minimal issues.

Once you buy the Holley, go ahead and immediately rebuild it - and be sure to clean all the excess silicone/grease/gunk and other manufacturing process crap out of it, and it should be fine.

Once again I must be one lucky SOB. I took it out of the box followed the tuning instructions and have been happy ever since. Better gas milage better performance and extremely happy.

I use a BG speed demon 750 , it works well after I disasembled it and cleaned all the machine debris out. I had put it on right out of the Box , and had to take it right back off again to clean it.
