I going to replace eveything in the system except the evaperator. While I have the evaperator disco'd from the system, Is there any thing I can use to run through the evaperater lines to flush them out before I install the new components? lou
Yep. Most better parts stores have AC-flush. I also bought a pressure tank with a tire fitting. Connects to my tire pump, pressurize to 120 PSI, and then flush. Do both directions. I got the tank and flush from NAPA.
NO! Do not flush anything through it. You cannot get all of the flushing agent back out and it will contaminate the refrigerant when you re-service the system. :nonod:
Zwede... That 's not always the best thing. The old type of flush was a derivative of Freon (Freon TF) techical fluid . That is not avalable any more and the new stuff doesn't evaporate.
Hmmm. Don't know exactly what the flush was, but I didn't have any problems. The AC has been blowing cold for years now. I did blow it out with air, though.
Just tip the canister upside down so that everything flows out. Be sure to have the system purged and evacuated at a shop. If you intend to do it yourself then hook up a household vacuum cleaner to it...it's just 6psi of vacuum, but it's better than nothing...otherwise the air in the system will prevent you from getting in a full charge. I did my system myself, but now that I know everything works I will take it to a shop this year for a purge, evacuation, and refill with freon.
Okay, so flushing may not be a good idea. I do have an air compressor. Would it be possible to at least blow the lines out. I want to make sure the lines in the evaporator are clean and clear. I just don't want to send a bunch of crap through all those new parts. Could this possibly be a salution? Any and all ideas are welcome. Thanks guys.
Lou... It is VERY important to keep everything capped or plugged. Moisture is A/C's enemy. You can blow the evaporator out but make sure there is no water in the air lines. Use a wter trap if you have one. :D

Yes, yes, and double yes!!! Do not flush... have evac done at a shop!
