The wiper door on my 69 seems to be closing too quickly and the wiper arms get stuck in it. I have checked a few things and have found some problems
The limit switch is not connected but appears to be functional. Can someone tell me what the limit switch plug connects to?
Also, where does the red wire from the override switch connect to the wiper motor?
There is an interlock vacuum switch that is located under the right-side wiper. It is there so that the wiper blade must close and then activate that switch before the door will close. Somehow, that switch has failed so that it is in the "closed" position, even though the wipers are not yet parked. I suspect that the spring inside that switch has failed, so the plunger can not move up.
Hi Dan,
I believe you're confusing 2 different components.
The 'wiper interlock switch' that 7T1 describes signals the wiper door relay and actuator that the wipers are fully down and the door may CLOSE. It is a vacuum control only.
The 'wiper door limit switch', that has the red wires and plug, signals the wiper motor that the door is fully OPEN and the wipers may begin their sweep. It's an electrical control only.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
Alan
