Can anyone tell me what this item is? This is on the drivers side and appears to have been painted over. The one on the passenger side has cracked and part of it has fallen off. We are trying to restore this car as exact as possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you referring to the water diverter? It's supposed to be painted over. Saw another posting on this forum where a fellow was looking for replacements. Responses indicated it's available from vendors.
Yes, the water diverter was installed at the factory.

Thanks for the info. I have been searching the web and the larger Corvette parts suppliers, and have not come across replacement parts for the 1969. I see replacements for later years but not the 1969.
Hi 4h,
Paragon, for one, shows that 68-73 fiberglass water diverter. #12689k.
When you see the price I think you may repair the one that's broken.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan. This is exactly the part I need, now its up to me to see whether I can salvage what I have.
Its nothing but a little piece of fiberglass. Make one.
After reading the disclaimer for the sale of the part:
Hand Layup (HL): Hand layup parts are manufactured by hand laminating pattern cut fiberglass mat and fiberglass resin into a precision mold. This method produces high strength panels with uniform thickness and a smooth surface only on 1 side. These parts may require much finesse work to achieve the proper fit and finish. Please note that all hand layup parts are non-returnable
I think you are right. Looks like even if you buy the pair for $57 (plus S&H) I wind up making it myself anyway.

Never mind the satisfaction.
If you don't have a piece of fiberglass, just stop by any Corvette shop and raid the bone yard. I am sure you can find what you are looking for. Cut to size.
