Default Late vs. Early

Hi folks I have a 76 vette, and I am wondering how to tell what interior parts to order. I was looking specifically at the rear window lower trim and the rear roof panels. Can anyone help?

I would suggest you use your vin number to figure out your car's birthday (web site here somewhere) and then get an AIM for 76. The AIM show the changes from 76 early to 76 late with a date of the running change. So I think using this information, you can figure out what your 76 Corvette is supposed to have. Hope this helps.

Hi Z76,
As 20m said you need to know when your car was built AND when the part changed.
A part could have changed on the 2nd day of production.... ONLY cars built the first day would be EARLY and ALL the cars after that would be LATE in regards to that part; a part could have changed on the 2nd day from the end of production... ALL the cars before that would be EARLY and only the last day of production cars would be LATE.
Sometimes the people who are making the parts can help with the date of change... have you checked with the manufacturer?
Regards,
Alan

Early and late usually refer to specific running changs made on the assembly line. The biggest change for the 76 model year was the switch from thr A6 AC compressor to the R4 radial compressor.

The Black Book says some late production 76s may have gotten 77 interior parts.

Use the Time/Build code on your trim tag. It will tell you the month and day your car passed the station on the assembly line where the tag was attached. Once you know when your car was assembled, call the vendor, give them the date, and they may be able to determine which parts are correct for your car.
