I've driven the car now. It's just lower speeds, not highway (no inspection sticker, not completely assembled), but:

Steering is great. The 0.049" shim reduced the assist to where it is, IMHO, perfect. The level of assist feels very similar to my BMW M3.

Hi all. I changed the power steering pump and power steering control valve but steering is still no good. I'm being told that a possible adjustment may be needed to the steering box adjuster screw? Any ideas?

Quite possible. Be sure that the steering is centered before adjusting. Check the FSM.

Ok, which screw is it? Is it the one directly on top? Which way would be the correct way to turn to adjust? What is FSM? Thanks.

FSM = Factory Service Manual Available from Helm, Inc.

http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage...:en&q=helm+inc

I believe it's the nut in the end of the control valve. It does caution against turning any more than necessary as it is a self-locking nut.

there is a great video on Youtube about this. Makes it look real simple on the adjustment screw setting.

Old thread but some great info here. Also this cssbinc writeup is the best i have seen. Only thing I wonder if he meant to say 60ftlbs for the valve body bolts?? I am thinking he likely meant 30ftlbs. 60 ft lbs seems like way too much. Thoughts?
