Default Possible engine HP...?

So I have a 1980 corvette with a 1971 350 ci corvette block sn 39700010 that's been rebuilt by jasper engines and bored out to .60 over with a .458 lift cam (not sure on duration though) a dart aluminum dual plane kool can manifold, edelbrock 650 cfm thunder series carb, and hooker super competition headers with sidepipes and no mufflers. Anybody got an estimate what kind of hp im pushing? The a/c pump and pollution garbage has been removed also. This is hooked up to a t350 3 speed auto with a b&m shift kit and a 3.73 rear gear.

Maybe 300. The stock heads are the limiting factor. I'm assuming (since you didn't mention it) that the pistons are stock '71 low-compression jobs. If they are flat-tops, you may be pushing 320.

No expert but that carb might be a little small. 750 CFM might be more in the ballpark. Why don't you go to a chassis dyno and now for sure? It doesn't matter what the engine makes , what it puts to the ground is what matters.

Actually Dart has a carburetor cfm calculator that I used for that specific manifold and it said that the 650 was more than enough. Said I only needed about 550-600 cfm for racing applications...

I would guess 300 FWHP. A set of AFR 180 eliminator 65 CC heads and the right hydraulic roller cam would get you over 400 HP. You have the gearing for it. A 1970 LS6 454 11.25 to 1 compression solid lifter motor used a 780 Carb and would pull 7000 RPM through stock manifolds from the factory. Your sub 6000 rpm 350 should be fine with the 650 even with a head and cam upgrade.

Thanks for the info 63mako. I don't know about it having only 300 hp though. When I first bought the car when I was 16 back in september 2002 I took it to the drag strip and ran a 14.9. This was before I did anything to it. Plus my dad was in the car with me during that run. It had a 3.08 rear gear, no shift kit, stock manifold with the quadrajet carb, a crappy restrictive 2.5" exhaust with the original exhaust manifolds, and standard width tires and rims. Plus the 350 pounds of meat sitting in the car and the stock 3300 lbs the car weighed.

Think 300 is a decent educated estimate, and probably not far off. Impossible to know for sure, until you get it on a dyno. Keep in mind, lot's of low end torque(which your engine probably has) can really trim down 1/4 mile launch time's, and 300 real hp is a lot more than most people realize. Also, dont think of the Edelbrock carb as a performance upgrade, as a well set up Q-Jet can put most aftermarket carb's to bed.

the edelbrock carbs are overrated but a quadrajet? if you can get one that works and if you can get it set up for your car and if you can keep the smallest piece of dirt from plugging something up or the shaft bushings from wearing out or the plugs leaking then its a wonderful high performance. carb

Probably around 300. stay with that carb, if you go bigger you will lose lowend power.
