I'm looking at putting an OD in my 77 vette but I'm kinda confused on the transmissions. I know I want a 2004r because I have a TH400 and it's almost a direct replacement, but while searching for the 2004r I keep finding 200r4s. Does the 200r4 really exist or is it from people assuming it’s called a 200r4 because of the 700r4? If it does exist what's the difference between a 2004r and 200r4. Thanks
When I was searching for a good 200-4R for my '70 Z28, I used that to differentiate between a "real" transmissions guy from a "junkyard seller", depends on who calls it 200-4R and 200-R4!
Thanks for all the post. That's what I was thinking that they were the same transmission.
While you're correct, make sure that you search for all variations when you're looking for one. I've now purchased several of these from a rebuilder in Arkansas. I found him the first time by searching 200R4.
