Summer 2009
The car is a 69 smallblock car with autom. trans. from the factory and the original engine is missing, there was a Chevelle 396 when I bought it.
The front end is a 1973 and nosepart from a 70. No idea to rebuild it to original anymore, just a perfect project to build something that I wanted without any bad feelings
That's quite a interesting project!
When I read "70 nose" I took a good look to see what grills were there.
But sadly they're 71-72. The 70's are a one year only part and would have earned you some $$$ if you sold them.
I think you're in for some FUN!!!!
Regards,
Alan

The car is quite a puzzle of everything, the doors are has been changed, the hood, almost everything. The paint looked quite good when I got it but after some investigation it was something else

We found 17 layers of paint
, the original paint was Daytona yellow, but after that it had white, red and also some blue layers

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Notice the 1976 tilt/tele column with the supercool Vegastyle steering wheel

Only the tankmeter were working...

Here was the solution, all out

This was not in the car but in my fathers car in early seventies, still remember one cartridge with Dean Martin
A bigblock with manual trans. A L88 with M22 would be the perfect choice but the costs of that combo would have been high and also normal drivebality not so good, high octane gas is not anymore available at the gas station and racing fuel is too expensive.
I looked at the crate engines with about the same horsepower and torque specs and also a tremec 5 speed.
The rearend was with 3.08 gears and with this combo you could drive on highways with no problem but in cities only with the first gear

I put a 3.55 instead and now its perfect

In a weak moment I ordered a engine from GM Performance Parts and a Tremec TKO-600

I have lots of pictures but I dont want to get this server too busy
heh.

Looks like we're working on the same class of veteran.

All old paint had to be off before we could do anything.

I was considering sodablasting but good that we did not do that, all parts should have been on the floor...

The body would maybe had fall apart if we had lifted it from the frame

I had a 1967 matching numbers L-68 coupe twenty years ago and to that you could do nothing, just go to car shows and take out on a sunday for a ride

With the warrior I can maybe do some drag/streetracing

My X, a 1967 L-68 , M-21, Malrboro maroon, saddle tan leather Coupe. Headrests, power windows etc. I sold it in 1995

This was a problem, I wanted a airbox but with 4" high filter.

Just cut and rise 2 inches, not so easy

Too robust in my opinion...

But the filter compartment were ok

A nice try to get it better
After this the car went to another place, will tell you later

After a lots of hours it started to look quite good
