I'm probably missing something obvious, but I removed the center bezel holding the radio, and I cant seem to get the radio to release from the bezel. Looking at the front of the bezel where the radio ***** stems are at, there are no nuts holding the radio in. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks for any suggestions!!
Need more info.
Is the bezel out?
Bezel is held by two bolts at the bottom, besides the upper screws.
Is radio out?
It is held by the nut on the stems and a brace at the passenger side.
Maybe too many beers spilled down the front of the bezel glued them together.
The radio can be removed without disassembling the bezel (or so Chevrolet says, ???). There are nuts on the threaded portion of the control shafts on either side, so they need to be removed. There is also a support mounted on the side of the radio which runs to the floorboard. The electical connections are the power plug, the speaker plug, the antenna wire, and the connector/wires going to the 'convector' (amplifier module).
With the center cluster out of the car and with no nuts on the control stems, the unit should come out the rear of the bezel. Age and accumulated gook might be holding it in place. Post your pics.
