Default '71 Seat Release Button

Anyone know a quick and easy way to replace the seat release button on a 71?

Many Thanks.

Hi p,
No, there's no easy way.
The seat back cover needs to be released to get access to the screw that's on the back of the button.
To get access to the screw the seat back lock assembly needs to be unscrewed from the seat back.
Regards,
Alan

Hi P'ville,
I'm replacing my button and I have no idea how to go about taking off the cover/ how I should start. Could you help me?

- Do I have to take the seat out of the car or can I leave it in there?

Hi H,
It can be done with the seat in the car.
Remove the hard plastic cover on the lower rear of the seat back. 2 screws at it's bottom and the push the cover upward to release 2 clips at it's top.
You'll then see how the back of the seat cover is installed. It needs to be loosened to gain access to the upper part of the metal release mechanism that the button fastens to.
This isn't a quick and easy job, but certainly doable.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Alan,
Thank you, your advice helped a lot; especially with the plastic cover, I would have had a hard time with that! You were right- it wasn’t quick or easy, but luckily I did get it done...
Thanks again!
