Sounds like your off to a good start.

It must be nice to take the smog off a 1981.

What state are you in?

Here on the Left Coast it's 1975 1/2 or older.

if you had a stock stall before than your 2500 is going to give you the best improvement.

all those parts wont give you any problems, just improvements . now search for some vortec heads or similar.

is the stock ECM still hooked up and working? if it is, you will need a non computer controlled distributor to run the Edelbrock carb.

If it was me, I would use the stock carb, unless thats a huge cam that will set the CEL.

It's a really nice start, be prepared though. That engine has 8.2:1 compression and the heads are designed for emissions not necessarily performance. qwank is absolutley correct, the CCC distributor will also limit what you've got planned. If at all possible, you might want to consider heads too, or waiting until you can include the heads with the package. As I'm sure you know, everything has to work together and unless you can take advantage of the cam, intake and exhaust (via good flowing heads and valves) you might be frustrated....

Good luck with your efforts. I'm trying to figure out how removing a 750 cfm Q-Jet and installing a 600 cfm [antiquated design AFB clone] Edelbrock is an improvement, though.

You will see a dramatic improvement somewhere over 3000 & up (you)
due mainly to cam & exhaust. Needs better heads. If it was a fresh build on dyno under 300hp maybe 275 just to give you a no. & w/ new heads over 300HP.

That carb is going to slow you down. I would recommend the Quadrajet or a Holley over the Edelbrock. Either will get you better performance and MPG.

Texas, but im not concerned emissions I just want it off.

From what I read the direction im in seems to be good. I wanted to check if anyone had any problems installing these parts just so I could get a heads up.

Also if anyone knows some detailed corvette cam swaps that they could lead me to that would be great.

Your plan has a flaw, your planning on installing a smaller carb than what is on there now?
Thats not going to make much HP. You should already have a good intake on there, the 2101 is a good unit. The cam kit and dual setup will do more than anything else to wake it up. I would save the $ from the carb and intake and put it in heads, AFR185 or the like.

Well at this moment im trying to get all emissions off first, and for the carb that was the one recommended over the holley 670 because its a daily car. And as for the heads Im planning to do it after the distributor

Agree,..keep the 750 Q-Jet.

And agree again. There some very affordable aftermarket aluminun SB heads that alone, should provide a 50 HP increase.

Good luck!

600 CFM is fine up to 300 HP. I had a 600 Edel and changed it for a 600 Holley on my 79 I had 10 yrs back and it ahd headers true duals, flat top pistons and a big cam plus upraded HEI.
I got pretty good perf out of it and good gas mileage.

That being said, if I had better heads as well I would have wanted at least a 670 Avenger. They are very easy to tune to your mods as well just send Holly support an Email with your combo and they will tell you what seconday springs to use and squirter etc..
