I would look at the Vintage Air kit. Some folks here have done it and seem happy with it.

Hi jm1,
Take a look at the thread by GD70 about adding a/c to the car he sold recently. (Search his recent threads.)
Lots of pictures!
And.... a TREMENDOUS amount of work.
Regards
Alan

Which way to you want to go? You can purchase aftermarket kits or you can scrounge the parts together and install the optional factory AC system.

Better to go Vintage Air. It looks stock installed, modern components and works better. Probably cheaper to install too.

This could get you started with the Stock install

I listed it in the F/S section

Just bought a Vintage Air setup for my 73. The kit arrived four days ago. Shipped to my door for $1370. That included an extra $50 for LS1 mounting brackets.

The main thing 75-76 factory air needs is a smaller lighter compressor instead of the heavy A6.

I replaced the R4 compressor with a ND 6P (8.2 C.I. & similiar to Sanden 508 used in Vintage Air) which uses less HP & works great. Compressor, custom brackets & hoses to stock A/C system.

Factory air has both fresh & recirculate.

If you don't mind saying, who did you buy it from? Sounds like a fair deal.

There are two systems in 1976. the long compresser for early and then the small unit for late. Now with that being said you still require a A/C unit.

Either go with a scrapped car with all of the plenums, hoses, console, evaporator, Receiver drier, A/C box, condensor, compressor and brackets for overhaul or an after market supplier.
