I like the Stinger hood, also.. but would it would look much nicer (IMO) if the stinger went a little further forward into the headlight panel like the C2's would take a little more work than just swapping hoods, but would be a cool effect.

Wow! Alot of different oppinions and good looking pics. I am still trying to justify spending over $600 on a hood. I am almost to the point of getting my 69 painted and I need to make a decision soon. Thanks for all the input!

Re: Stinger Hood! (74VETTE)
Chris, I'm going to pick one up for my '80 at the Fall Corvette EXPO in Knoxville. Vanacor's show price for one is $350 plus another $70 for the baffle to make the air box for cold air induction. He is going to bring me one to the show.
Someone stated that they would like to see the stinger a little longer. I am planning on remolding the stinger on the new hood into the shape of an '80 stinger. It won't take to much work to do it. A little artistic toouch and it will look like it came that way.
The cold air box works just like the L-88 hood and I have already purchased the L-88 breather asm to use with this hood. JIM
Does anyone sell the stinger piece or how hard would it be to fabricate. My hood is almost wore thru from the aircleaner stud being too high from the previous owner. Thought it might be a good way to learn about fiberglass. Mayber even get crazy and do the Baldwin Motion hood, but think the stinger is cooler.
79er and FinnShark. Both cars look kick A**. I kinda wished I had a done a stinger hood now with a black stinger to match my interior and top. I would but already spent the $ and have my new BBlock hood in good shape. Those hoods look very

Wow there are some great examples on here with that hood, please don't throw another wrench into my head, I had my mind set on the L88  .
gdh, I bought mine as just a scoop. I know they're available and very inexpensive. About $45 for mine. And I'm going to glass it onto a small block hood. Not my stock small block hood however. I'd like to leave my C3 reversible so that it could be put back stock if desired.
I bought another small block hood for $100 to work on, and my stock hood will hang on my garage wall.
By glassing it on a small block hood, all you have to do is mark and cut the round air filter hole in it, and you have a cold air box!!! You could use either the resulting ram air hole or the cowl induction hole, or both if you want. I'm going to baffle mine, like I mentioned before. The ram air will have a slot cut below the baffle to blast cool air over the carb and intake in motion, or act as a nice heat vent while idling. Then the carb will be fed cowl induction air off the windshield.
My scoop measures 3 1/2" high. However, that space reduces in the center because of the centerline of the hood itself.
Thanks MoMo, where did you get yours, as you are doing exactly what I have been thinking about with a second hood. Amazing for $145 plus tax and paint you have a stinger, going to a local second hand parts supplier in the next week to try and find one.
Wow, I love that thing!! I didn't at first, but it really gives it that power look to it, I'm going to mod that puppy to fit on my escort wagon!!
haha, nice choice in hood there.
I just can't seem to shake the idea that the stinger scoop belongs on a C2, and the L-88 cowl induction belongs on the C3. I don't think the scoops look bad, I just like the L-88 better on the C3 IMO.

Where did you find the scoop for $45? The only place i saw it was MP MOtorsports and it was $100+ shipping. It said the dimenstions were: 61" Long x 26" Wide x 4" Tall
Im a little confused on how you are going to glass it on. Since a small block hood already has a small cowl, wont the front of it have to be molded downward and sit really high? Or are you going to cut out the whole cowl that is there now?
[QUOTE]MoMo...couple of questions for ya....

I've said it before and I'll say it again about 79er's car, it just look plain ole    His car has convinced me to go with a stinger when the time comes. Question to everyone, what color would you do the stinger in on an all black car (ext. and int.) I thought red, but there is no other color on the car other than black. I feel it need something to make it stand out, but can't figure out what color. I'm not a big fan of red, but gray or silver might look ok, what do you think?
Has anybody considered the high rise hood that follows the lines of a `73-`77 stock hood? This is the hood I will be using and like the L-88, it can use the cold air box and air cleaner set up. I read the other recent thread but I don`t remember finding where to buy the Balwin-Motion hood. Or was this a modified L-88?
