Default Transmission Add ons

This is just a lets see what others are or have done with their transmissions. I am wondering about a few things.
1st, how many others have changed to overdrive transmissions.
2nd, how many have gone to a different shifter and what did you put in.
3rd, Have any put an aluminum pan on or just used the stock metal pan.
4th, are you using a temp gauge and where did you mount it.
5th, how many are using an adjustable switch for your lockup?

Pictures would be great!

I'm thinking about each one of these questions for mine and wanted to see what others have done.
Thanks
Rodney

I changed the transmission in my 78 to a 2004-R. Also changed the stall convertor to 2800 RPM. Best modification so far.

700R4. No need for a different oil pan, unless just for 'looks'. I did install a separate power cut-off switch for the lockup function. I have a lockup controller, but wanted to be able to disable it, if I wanted. So, I installed a rocker switch with LED light between the brake disconnect switch and the lockup controller.

700r4 with 4L65 internals, lockup switch(a requirement to mitigate the risk of overheating the trans). I plan to mount the temperature gauge in an a pillar gauge pod.

Right now I have a B&M ratchet shifter, but it's kinda big, so I may figure something else out.

Alumninum pan is worth +10hp at the rear wheels.

I installed a 2004r in a 81. Modified the lock up to only engage in 4th gear. Work great. Still have stock 2:87 rear gear but the 2004r has a lower 1st gear ratio than the th350c. Someday will go to 3;55

So far no shifter updates, and only one temp gauge. But a few lock up switches. I am thinking about the one that hooks up to the speedometer cable and you dial in the speeds you want lock up to occur. I am also thinking about a different shifter but I would like to keep the original console. I may have to buy another shifter plate to do some trial fits before i make that decision. As for the tranny pan it would be for looks only but then again who sees it under the car. I am sure more members will add some additional posts. Thanks for the posts so far.
