The rev limiter is a good thing to have if you race, but if you don't ......
For eg. When I race my car, when I up shift I dont take my foot of the gas pedal, so if I miss a shift I don't have to wory about rpms.
But depending on limiters I think elecrinic ones are better than fuel shut off bcasue it keeps the engine more stable when limiting.

MSD 6AL with (I think) 5500 RPM limit. I can't remember what module I put in there, but it's no higher than 6k rpm.
We put the test module, a 2k rpm one, to test it and it works great. It does a VERY good job of limiting the RPMs w/out hurting the revs too much. This was my first mod when I bought the car and I'm VERY glad that I did it.
Now I can just stomp on it w/out worrying about the RPMs and dump the clutch. Instant fun
I've got a Mallory Hyfire IVc as my rev limiter, no pills to lose either, everything is set on the box and actually comes with two rev limiters, so you can use one for staging that can be triggered by a 12v switched power, and the other is on all the time. One bonus of rev limiters if you guys and gals haven't figured this out yet is putting a low chip in when you have to leave your car to get worked on or somebody wants to take it around the block.
I have an MSD rev limiter box. It uses the same pills as the 6AL, but it is only a rev limiter. I have not hooked it up yet, but will be doing so over hte Memorial Day weekend. The P/N is 8728.
I have one of these over in the for sale section that has never been installed. I will make someone a great deal on it. I have a 6AL in my car now and the rev limiter works great i tested it at 3k rpm and i have hit it once at 6k. It was smooth and accurate both times.
