Ok Alan You had me on the run.... That would be standard of me to install a new Windsheild and then Crack it screwing in the last Screw...So I had to have look at the Side Molding Screws and there is one near about an inch away from the Crack so I removed it and its only 1/4" long so I don't think it did it.
The reason I would like to try another Brand is beacause I would like to think that it will fit a bit better than the one I have now. I think the Pilkington that I got is to curved at the top corners. I also didn't like the way there is no cut out to read the VIN Number.

I also have a Pilkington windshield and it fits perfectly. PN is DW714, is that what you have also?

Not sure what you mean by a "VIN cutout"?

There is a Shaded area that surounds the perimiter. The Shaded area is a little larger than the OEM Glass. The OEM had a notch in the Shaded area right at the VIN so that You could just walk up to the car and see it at a glance. With it the way it is now you need to know where the VIN is and lean over the car to have a look. I'd say the shaded area is as much as an Inch greater than the OEM. I have a DW 893 Windshield.

Google is not giving me much info on the Part Numbers DW 714 or the DW 893 that I have. There might be a possibility that I have a early C3 in my late C3 ?

I have an early C3 (71). The DW714 has very little blackout on the sides, it is completely covered by the trim. The VIN tag is not obscured at all.

OK so I'm opening an old thread again but as fall is not far off its time to order a Windsheild. I'm still going with my made in america idea, so I think that the Safelight one is made in North Carolina, and the Pittsburg Glass Works is probably a USA made product to even though there website isn't to informative. Any body have a new sorce of Glass since this thread was last visited ?

I had GUARDIAN AUTO GLASS install mine. I removed all the trim, and then they came out and removed the glass. I asked them to come back in a couple of days (was a week). Then I cleaned up the frame and when they came back we dry fit all the trim to make sure the glass was spaced off the frame correctly, before they laid down the goop.

I did not care what logo was on the glass as long as it fit correctly.

MY PPG Windsheild showed up at my local Glass Company as a PGW.( Pittsburg Glass Works) They say that thats what PPG turned into. Anyway I didn't get past the " Made in China" long before I had them send it back.

If you post the DOT code we can tell you where it's made.

The Windsheild had a Decal on it saying "made in china" that would be peeled off when the install was done. Just like the "made in mexico" decal that was on the Pilkington.

If I was to buy a non date coded windsheild from Paragon today it would be a AGP ( American Glass Products ) Tomorrow it might be somebody else. Dose anybody have anything to say about AGP, good or bad? Good news is that AGP is made in America, bad news is is that its not this America, its South America.

Today I had yet another Windsheild installed. I went to a new Glass Shop one who has a good rep and has done many Muscle cars. I ordered a Windsheild threw Safelite and received a SGC ( Safelite Glass Corp) I was told that it was made in Whiticha Kansas and yes it did have a Made in USA sticker on it. However the Glass Shop Talked me out of it and we installed a PGW ( Pittsburg Glass Works) made in China. The Glass Shop considered the SGC as the bottom of the barrel as far as glass goes. Looking at the two panes next to each other they look like they came out of the same factory except for the Name stamp. The SGC did however have the Stamp on the wrong side, it was over on the Drivers side. As it turns out my Pilkington Windsheild did not have a Crack, it was delaminating. It sure looked like a Crack at first, but given another 4 months it was delamination that was happening. As far as fit goes I will say this one fits a bit better, and the shaded area of both of them were the same as the stock LOF and not a 1/2" wider as was the Pilkington. Looking threw it from the inside it looks back to normal and not closed in as was the Pilkington. The Serial Number shows just fine now. However the more I have talked to Glass people they all pick Pilkington as there first choice, it just didn't work out for me.
