Default power window problem

My drivers side power window does not work. Passenger side is ok. Are the left and right side fused seperately? Where is the fuse located on the fuse block?

No.

Owner's manual will have a diagram of the fuse block.

Check driver's switch first. It usually fails first because it is used more often. Connect the driver's wiring harness to the passenger's switch and see what you get.

When I had this problem it turned out to be a broken power wire near the door hinge. Just wear and tear over the years.

Take the door panel off and see if you have power to the motor. Check for a broken wire as suggested. The other possibility is corrosion on the ground. the motor is grounded to the regular and the regulator is grounded to the door frame which has a black ground to it.

You can run a second ground to the motor from the battery to double check if the door ground is an issue.

My driver side motor burnt out.

The motor has a thermal switch in it so that when it is up or down and cannot go any further, the motor heats up and the thermal switch turns it off.

The replacement motors are not cheap and replacing it is an excuse to curse the name of everybody at GM for an afternoon.
