How did you check the wear on the motor mounts? These parts don't usually wear, they break, and they don't cause vibration. What kind of vibration do you have, when do you notice it? Is it RPM related or speed related?

Inspect for damage but unlikely. Change them if you like but I doubt that's the source of your vibration.

Choices are rubber or poly; sources.....just about anywhere.

Putting them on will require a floor jack and a good size block of wood under the oil pan.

Good luck.

a lot of vibration.....check carefully around the fan clutch shaft and see if there is any evidence of the seal being worn in an out of round fashion....kind of hard to explain but when you see the uneven wear around the shaft where it goes into the fan clutch seal it means the fan is spinning out of balance and it causes lots of vibration.

I had a trans. leak and took the vette to a well known trans. shop which we have used in the past. Owner found a shifter seal bad and replaced. repair cost $47 out the door! I did not mention vibration to him, however when returned from test drive he said he felt a vibration and put the car back on the lift and found the motor mounts worn badly. He pointed the jack wear out to me. So this will be my next project. My friend has a four car garage with large lift.I know he has large wood blocks and the lift has a sliding jack. so I should use these under the oil pan to remove/install new mounts? I am new to the forum and greatly appreciate all the help and imput. Thanks Bouvie1

If you want to change motor mounts, it's up to you. It' straight forward, three bolts hold them to the block and there's a through bolt that holds it to the frame tower. Support the engine and lift it enough to get the mount clear and there you go. You may have to take the exhaust pipes loose from the manifolds.

Motor mounts don't wear, they break. I've never actually seen a "worn" motor mount, there's really no way for them to wear. If yours is broken, it's likely the one on the drivers side. But this will NOT cause a vibration. What happens when they're broken is that when the engine torques it has a tendancy to rock towards the passenger side of the car and the fan hits the shroud making a sound you can't miss.

What is the vibration? When does it occour? Does it happen when the car's in park and you rev the engine, or does it happen only when the car is in motion. Some likely candidates are tire balance, u-joints, fan clutch and harmonic balancer....

Don't buy "Anchor" Brand mounts (made in India). They're total junk... crooked... sloppy work. I just went through 8 mounts and finally gave up and went to the Dealer. Even "Pioneer" reboxes Anchor Brand. Good Luck.
