I am done trying to help you. You come on here asking for help and when someone tries to help you you turn into a freeking moron and insult not only the person that pointed out your spelling issues but everyone else that has even posted on the thread. I have been building race engines and cars longer than you have been alive. I have forgotten more than you will ever learn. How can I say that? It is obvious you are incapable of learning as you are 43 years old and are not yet able to construct a complete sentence. As a matter of fact you are incapable of properly spelling any word with over 4 letters. Proper sentence structure, spelling and correct puctuation is not an inconvenience, it is a necessity if you are going to be successful at anything. On a forum like this others judge you by how well you communicate. The only impression we get is what you put on the post. You brag about building 300 custom cars yet basic timing and carb tuning is totally beyond your comprehension. You, my friend, are truly an idiot.

You dont need locked out timing. Thats for people who are too lazy or who dont know anyone to put a proper curve on it.

If you dont mind sending it out Contact Bob Jennings in North hills Ca he will set it up right the first time so you know THAT part is right. Hes been at it longer than most of us have been breathing.

Youd be surprised at how curves that come on "performance distributors" arent even close to what you need...because everyones is a little different.

Your car can run fine on any of those carb sizes.

If it stinks is running rich etc it is NOT fine. Cars dont like to "run fat".
Get the ign set up right then play with the carb. Usually a tweak on the pump cams or squrters will get it just right if it isnt already

Let's face it, english is a pretty stupid language. We can't even agree amongst ourselves......humour, colour, metre, etc. Scott, the thought did occur to me that he was pulling our legs, but still.......poor buggar could be dyslexic.

Nah, the way he misspells things is way too over the top, it's like something out of an old cartoon about hillbillys. Laying it on a little too thick, as we say here in the States.

I'm still not sure what "locking in the timing" means, is it an actual thing that maybe racers do? Like, just set the timing at 35 with no centrifugal or vacuum advance? I've heard of racers not using vacuum advance, because it only works when you are off the throttle, and who cares about that on a race car? But no centrifugal advance? What is the deal with that?

Oh, wait! I get what he's saying here, I think.....he's just talking about setting total centrifugal advance at 35 degrees at 3000 rpm, just like we do, except he's saying it all hillbillyish to make us think he's an idiot! Pretty clever! One thing, tho, he misspelled @#$%^&*, it should have a "~" in the middle there, somewhere.

you have noticed not one has actulle on hand experinces to post rite?? these guys pay someone els to build there cars and work on them.......as for me i dont care what it cost ..if i have to buy 40 carbs to find out what the best one to runn is...i just dug deep called a cupple old timers and they set me strait in 10 minits car ran 12.6 no spray 1030 spray....with 27 inch tall street radials...no cam degree no vac line to dist..eather..i lockt it at 42 for the track and brang it down to 35 for the street.......someone on here said set the timing at the top of the timing tab lock it and hook up the vac line to full manny vac.. well he is rite BUT that sets the timeing to the same spects as me locking it out at 35 at 3k........so it seems when you set the vac to full manny vac its real no dif than setting your dist. to 35 at 3k..comes to be the same thing...now if you set the timing with the vac line off to 8degrreez lock it then conect the vac line to the line that only draws vac when you hit the gass . then you advance ..i tryd this way to and had to install light springs to advans faster and it works nice as that is actully how the vac line is set from factory........but to tweek out the motor and runn its *** of sbc likes 43 deg. advance.. as for the carb 750 runns its *** off but to fat at iddle so i went with the 650 mac.secs. up sized the jets to 750 size 7 1 up front 80 rear and it is so perfect i dont wont to tuch it now that is with 4 corner adgustment to.......someone on here said it dont matter what size carb you runn your motor will only pull what it wants.. well that guy needs to go back tyo pep boys and get re-sertifide cuz the 750 has verry big holes and you need a big motor to handle that carb the 650 with smaller holes with the same jets as 750 ran perfect ... how do i no you ask..cuz i got out and did it my self i didnt pay some idiot from pep boys that just got out of high school...........so heres what i was told to do from guys that do this all there lives.....first thay askt the cam spects..then the head info.....than if i checkt clearences and springs to mach cam....and did i no what pistons i have...now i new some but not all so heres what went down and how my car is way out of controll................................ ...first thing i did was go get springs to hold a 550 lift....then i went and got a set of 1.6 rockers full roller of corse.....since i didnt no the spring info.......now my cam is a 480 lift so with the 1.6 its around 523 or close to it......and the old timers seem to think i needed moor lift with my set up.....then i went to the doller store got cloths line fed it into the cylinder one at a time roteded the motor till the rope held the valves so i can change the springs..after that i installed the rollers..but left one real loos put the tip of a scruw driver inder the roller turnd the motor over by hand to make shore i had clearence i no most of you are lost with that one..lol...after that i fired up the motor ran it hot and checkt the plugs it seemd i was having a detnation to fast so i advanced it further to 42 deg. as i was only intrested in a track runn after that i set it at 35 at 3k but at iddle i was at the top of the tab.........now with 11.5 compretion dome pistons and 70cc heads with 195 runners i am around 10.6 to1 with a 523 lift cam with 230 duration...and just for the guys that are going to say way to much timing..you must be running a stock cam motor cuz my cam with 480 lift with 1.5 rollers has on the cam card 34 degreez btdcand 66 abdc... so now i may not be able to spell to good but my car can whip your cars *** even when its not even running................................. ......................................

Ok think weve all heard enough bs.
You dont have a clue what youre doing, (if you did youd know to TUNE a carb instead of buying 40 more) have asked for help been offered it, THEN want to shoot everyone down while posting backwoods stuff you do that does NOT work.

But obviously have all the answers. And yes a 600 can more than handle that motor. Its not even cracking 400hp on a good day.

Anytime you want to see someones tailights you just bring that bucket on down.

Oh and you DO realize there are guys here with 9 and 10 sec street driven cars?

I rest my case. He is running 43 degrees advance, locked out, Was getting detonation (no suprise there running 43 degree timing) so he advanced the timing to 42 degrees to run it on the track. And he has no concept of the difference between ignition timing and valve timing. Sounds like that "Badd azz moter" will not be together for long spraying it and running 42 degrees advance. Good thing he has all that money and skills as he will need both real soon.
