I just got new wheels and the rears are a little close to the sway bar so I would like to bump them out about 1/8" and thought the washers that were on the old lug nuts would be about the thickness I would need. This seems like a more balanced approach than some of the spacers I have seen that have large holes on one side and small holes on the other. I have a torque wrench to properly torque the lug nuts down and know I would need to check them regularly to make sure they are not coming loose at all. Is this a feasible solution or would my wheels fall off?
Hey, man, these guys are just being polite, that idea is just flat-out crazy! The forces involved are spread out along the mating surface of the wheel to the hub, washers will concentrate these forces, and that is a bad idea. A bad idea. I'm pretty sure they make 1/8" spacers, use them. Please.
