Access panel, access?
Hi guys,
There is a small access panel in front of the driver's wiper anchor, and I can not get it off! Got the 4 bolts off and trying to take it off so I can get behind there, hold the nuts for the relay bolts, but it won't budge.
Any ideas? What am I missing?

i'm not sure what you are referring to. all i can think of are the four (out of 6 total) bolts that are in the cowl area that fasten the pedal assembly.

Inside the cowl area, where the wiper linkage is. Just forward of the driver's side pivot post, there is a small access panel, about 3"x4" or so. This is for the box just aft of the brake booster, and holds up a couple of relays.
Looks like I'll be able to get a small wrench in there and hold the nuts for the 2 bolts that hold one of the relays. It's all flopping around, would like to replace those if possible.
On closer scrutiny, looks like there are a couple of rivets holding it in place too?
Has anybody gotten into this and can tell me how hard this will be, before I just jump into it?

Hi 73,
Unless a 73 is different than my 71, I don't think that's a 'access plate'.
I believe it's a reinforcement plate that doesn't 'lead' anywhere.

It's the reinforcement for the 4 bolts that mount the clutch/brake pedal housing. AIM UPC5 Sheet A2

nothing should have. The 4 brake booster bolts also hold in the pedal assembly, and there's 2 more bolts under the dash that secure it also. 10 bolts seem to be over kill for a pedal assembly, but as the saying goes, GM used 10 because they absolutely could not get it to work with 9.
