Glad that was just an "optical illusion" on the cylinder fitting. The seal joint is the seat at the bottom of that fitting port. Don't put teflon tape or plumbing dope on that fitting. If the seat doesn't seal, nothing else will help it. There are tools made to 'resurface' that kind of seat, if you want to try that. Otherwise, if you can't get it to seal well, a new cylinder is likely the only solution.
P.S. I can't believe that you could actually drive the car with the cylinder ram assembled the way your photo shows!
Got all the new parts in and just took the 'new' ram off. There is a shard of metal in the seat as seen below! Damaged my hose too. Got a new hose to put on. Should have it all back together tomorrow night to test.
Its stuck in there. Its going back to napa tomorrow inexchange for the new one they gave me.. let this be a lesson for everyone, look in the hole before you stick something in it haha
Everything in and working fine! My steering wheel isn't straight, I need to figure out why its off 20 degrees and how to fix it. I have a little bit of fluid on the metal fitting the rubber hose on the retract line from advanced auto parts.. I am going to get a new hose from them.. what a nightmare these leaks are. Drove it into a car show at work today with no problems
