I had Gary at Vtech Corvette rebuild mine and put in 3.73 gears March 2012. He did a great job, I highly recommend him. I'm real pleased with how it performs now (actually burns rubber in first and second gears now).
Basically took $600 from me and sent parts that failed in short order. Wouldn't respond when I contacted them about it. Parts were strut rods, diff yokes and trailing arm spindles. One of the spindles was just miles from snapping in half when I replaced it, yokes were worn out after few thousand miles. Strut rod bushing fell off.
In '07 I purchased a rebuilt rear differential from Duntov, for my 1981. I purchased it based solely on price, as they were cheaper than anyone. Very BIG, COSTLY mistake. After installing, it was extremely noisy. Removed it, found the side yokes were not even close to being in tolerance. Didn't go any farther, pitched it in my busted parts pile and there it sits. In hindsight, I should have done more research, and checked tolerances before installing. I learned a valuable lesson from them, and think of my Duntov experience before I buy anything, from anyone, since then. Like zwede, I was fortunate to find Gary @ Vtech with help from this forum. His service, and quality is top notch. I installed his Rebuilt Diff, and Trailing Arms, (after checking what specs. I could), and they're still running strong since '08.
I also bought a duntov diff. for my 81. Installed and test drove. The diff.was very noisey. I ended up rebuilding my original diff. which I should of done in the first place. Didn't have time to rebuild at the time. I also waited 2 months for the diff. Not impressed.
I took them my power steering cores and they immediately gave me a discount on wheel bearings, shims, and rear spindle tools plus a 15% discount for being a Corvette forum member. This was about 3 weeks ago. So i consider my buying experience positive. I can't speak to their workmanship, though.
Not to be an "azzhat", but if they sold you guys some really bad stuff, why not fight the charges, rather than just chuck the parts in the "wasted money" file??
also a friend of mine here in Italy had noise issues with one of those diff . and oil leak too if i recall. i don't know if Duntovmotors solved the problem. expensive shipping anyway
