Default trailing arm hell...

are these cars really worth all the aggrivation, and are these t/a that hard to rebuild, what about expense...what can i expect (ball park, of course) to spend to rebuild them....i just inherited a 71 with 82,000 on it and am thinking this needs to be done. ...****

Depends on what tools you have. You are looking at about 120-150 each arm for a rebuild kit with bearings. Then you need a good dial indicator with base, micrometer or dial caliper, bearing setup tool, bearing puller, race installing tool, and spindle knocker at the minimum. Those tools can cost you around $500-$1000 depending on what quality of tools you buy.

Contact tracdogg2 here on the forum. He will rebuild your arms with all new parts made in the USA. He does extra machining that others don't. Quality work at a fair price. The man's work is exceptional.

There's your problem: the Lenox bi-metal blades will wear their teeth off in a few minutes and are close to useless. The solution is a 9" Milwaukee brand Diablo blade available at Home Depot. Get one for each side and you're in business!
