I got cracks in the paint,up on top of the front fenders,i took it to a body shop to get it fix, will its been 3 times in the last 2 weeks that i keep taking it back, cause they keep coming back so what in the heck is this Guy doing wrong. I think he's useing the wrong bondo.
Have you considered the cracks are in the fiberglass and not the paint?
Its in the fiberglass, and he fixed it,like i said,it keeps coming back,he used bondo with mess in it. I'am taking it back tomorrow to get it fixed again, was wonding if he is useing the wright bondo.
I have also heard of paint lifting on the top of the fender surround because someone used a tar like sound dead-ner in the wheel wells and the oil base bled through the fiberglass. That would appear more like paint bubbling.
You don't fix cracks in fiberglass with bondo. You grind the cracks down and open them up winder to bevel the surrounding area, then fill with resin soaked fiberglass matt. Grind the cured repair down flush with the body and finish up with bondo. After finish sanding using guide coat, prime and paint the area. Simply filling fiberglass cracks with bondo will see cracks return and is a waste of good paint and effort. You need a body shop with experience working with fiberglass. Different materials are used with SEM body panels.

Bondo is just a filler used for filling low spots and not used for structural repairs.

In fact, I'll go one step further: If the 'glass substrate has been hit, and if the 'glass strands have been broken with cracking in the fiberglass, you'd be hard pressed to even grind out and overlay new 'glass mat because the cracking and crazing from the broken 'glass strands will propagate everywhere - the cracks will keep reappearing. If the fiberglass in the fender has been damaged and broken, you need to cut the fender off and replace it with a new 'glass panel. That's why they sell replacment panels: After it's been hit and broken, you have to cut it all out and install new substrate material.
And, as everyone points out above: You can't fix 'glass cracking with Bond-O. If your body guy is filling the cracking with any type of filler, it's a losing battle.
FYI, you don't use "Bond-O" on Vettes: You use EverCoat Vette Panel Adhesive as a filler and smoother to compensate for slight irregularities. This is a polyester filler with elasticity similar to the 'glass substrate.
