Thanks for all the videos! Do you have one for the steering cylinder? I see the one for the control valve.
Rebuilding a power steering cylinder in most cases is a waste of time. If you look at the shaft on your old one you'll more than likely see a worn groove in the chrome on the shaft. What happens is this: You replace the seal by removing the retaining ring but once you install the new seal the groove in the chrome causes the seal to fail. In most cases it will last about a month or so and then start leaking again.
It's sad because the only choice is to purchase a new cylinder that is imported (they do have a good success rate though) or to purchase a rebuilt unit that has had the shaft replaced in it (more expensive than the imported cylinder).
Do you have a torque value for the two bolts that hold the power steering control valve together? All he said in the video was to put it in a vice and get them tight. I found another set of instructions on the web and they said to torque them to 60 ftlbs! My bolts are only grade 5 and the torque value they give is almost double what a 3/8 grade 8 bolt should be. Mine were on tight but I don't think they were that tight! According to several tables I found, the torque value for a 3/8 grade 5 should be about 23 ftlbs. Thoughts?

Love this and couldn't have been more timely for me! Could you possibly do one for disassembly of the "77" steering column and switch replacements? Thank for the videos that you done already and I will be using them soon!

Thank you.
Actually I've done the video on a 1969-1976 tilt column but have not had time to do the final edit on it. Hopefully I'll get to it sooner than later.
The column is pretty much the same as the 77-82 with the exception of the lock release and the wiper switch and pivot.
You sir have got yourself another customer. I'm new to the Corvette world just bought my first one ( a 1977 ) on Dec. 11 2017. I have been fixing stuff non stop since and still got tons to do. After I bought the car I came across some of your videos on youtube, and then found this forum and joined only to see you here helping people and sharing your knowledge time and time again. I thank you for that and just as soon as I recover from the beatting she's already put on my wallet I'm placing an order. I'm thinking a complete weather stripping kit might be my next purchase.
