You probably don't need this type for your engine, just showing you what is out there and available
Thanks for the info. MotorHead

Brand new Nascar engine from Roush/Yates

Hendrickmotorsports Nascar engine

If these guys put a $300 ATI Damper to balance a $60-80,000 engine there must be a reason

Like I said you probably don't need one then again you probably don't need a fliud damper either a $40 stock one is sufficient any brand but don't buy one from Chevy HotRod capitol of the world, Guangdong China

Pauldana and MotorHead, thanks for the info. and pictures. Those NASCAR engines are impressive looking machines.

I was leaning towards the FLUIDAMPR because I recently installed one on my stock Dodge Cummins diesel with an automatic and have been quite pleased with it. The auto shifts smoother from take off all the way to OD. And at highway speeds the engine runs smoother. FLUIDAMPER claims to dampen out the harmonic vibrations thru-out the entire RPM range and it appears to be working on this big inline six diesel. So I was thinking the FLUIDAMPR might further reduce some of the vibrations in my 383 stroker with solid motor mounts. Presently, vibrations aren't bad at all but just thought it may help even more and plus I want to get that Professional Products damper off since I've heard bad things about those. Another benefit of the FLUIDAMPR is there is no inner elastomer rubber ring to worry about having to replace down the road after it ages and gets cracks in it.

Thanks again for your alls help.

THere is nothing wrong with a fuidampner
If you use the ATI you may have to hone to fit they go on a little tight.
Dont force it on youll never get it off. THey are a nice piece btw.

OP get rid of that balancer now!!
Had one explode on me years ago went right through the hood took out the radiator and everything on the front of the motor. Like a small hand grenade went off.

I may be interested. The one on my 1978 came off (with a puller in 2 pieces). I am a machinist so I thought maybe I could pin it...but I don't know what the true position of the inner hub (with the keyway) with respect to the timing mark on the outer ring. Is this advisable? Funds are a problem right now...How much for your's? Terry422914@aol.com
