I have a question for those that installed efi on their C3 : where did you install your airfilter. I want it to draw cold air, but the nose of our cars doesn't allow much room for a suitable size air filter.
If you have some pictures, they are greatly appreciated.

Gene, can you still open the hood with that in front of the rad. My hood is not on at the moment, but I remember that space being real tight when the hood was open. I barely had enough room to fit an oil cooler flat to the radiator support.

If you look closely, you will see hood pins at the front. It looks like he converted his hood to open the oposite way.

Whatever you decide to do, keep in mind that if you end up running an open-element air cleaner that pulls air in from inside the engine compartment, the PCM will retard the timing by 10 degrees or more any time the air inlet temp goes above 140 degrees. This will give you some real tuning and performance problems...

Yep...
...Lars, another question. Would you recommend the stock late C3 air cleaner setup (single or dual snorkel) over an open element?

Anything that pulls air in from someplace other than the top of the engine compartment. The late C3 system is actually very good if you can find one complete with all ducts and hardware: This would work well on one of the Holley-style FI setups, but would be difficult to adapt to a C4 TPI forward-facing throttle body.

Lars,
You're absolutly correct, which is exactly why i'm going for the cold air intake.
I have the ducting system for my 79 which has 2 openings to attach the tubes to. Problem is filtration.
I'm running a crossram stack efi manifold, which makes things a little more complex.
Currently I'm leaning to the setup of the guy in this thread. I would mount a cylindrical K&N filter inside an airbox on top of the stacks (over the valve cover). Hmmm, would only have to figure out how much free room I have from my tall valve covers to the flat surface of the hood.
The other option would be to use my filter socks and build an airbox over the intire engine, connecting that to the dual snorkel system.
However it seems that the socks pose a danger with regards to a fire.
