Dave, somewhere else is a set of drawings from the first electric conversion I have heard of, from Chris McDonald, McSpeed.....
he used the Firebird light motors....and controller panel....
IMO, the easy way is to use a linear motor like on my wiper door, ebay about 30 bux each....use radio shack magnetic burglar alarm window switches like I used on the wiper door, that stops the action at the end of stroke, same wiring diagram I built with 3 relays to control the whole mess, each light independent of each other.....now IF you wanted a control rod running laterally under there, you could easy activate both at once, and so just one set of relays and ONE actuator....whole thing maybe 200 bux at MOST....bet I get it done less than 100......
and as always, vacuum sux.....
one actuator, that will by my next(ish) build... but HID lights so the doors don't have to open as far.
