Doing a frame off. I was wrenching everything by hand. Brokedown and spent $69.00 at Harbor Frieght for a impact wrench with 700 ft. lbs. Bolts come off with a whole lot less effort. Made good progress a lot faster. I'm using a craftsman compressor 30 gallon tank and works great.

i assumed almost every guy on this forum had a 1/2 impact gun, even if for just taking the wheels off with ease. I got their aluminum 1.5 ton jack about 3 months ago for $69 with coupon and love that thing

I have a good collection of tools but never had a 1/2" impact wrench. I bought this one because I saw it won a best buy in Automobile Magazine and there was a Harbor Freight ad with a $20.00 coupon. I listed for $120.00, was on sale for $89.00 less the $20.00 coupon. Good deal and I was surprised how quite and smooth it is.

I've bought their 1/4 air ratchet and been very pleased with that, also bought their 3/8 air ratchet, that one has been a little flaky. but both of those with the 20% off coupon brings them well below $20 each. for weekend warrior mechanics like myself. hard to beat those prices. since u got that impact gun, be sure to get their deepwell impact sockets, set is only like $25

You're right, I bought the $35.00 kit. It has both deep and shallow in SAE and Metric. How can you beat that. Weekend warrior here also and tools seem to fine for us.

Check out Harbor Freight you can't beat the prices and the tools will get you by with lite to med. use. I never bought from them before because I thought I would be just wasting money, but so far so good.

well make it a belated Christmas present to yourself. I should have got that jack years ago. those cheesy $30 jacks from the auto parts with the small cup, short, small base, but worst of all the handle that has to be removed and then reinserted to pump it up or let it down....no good
that same jack is actually $59 right now with this cutout coupon that came in newspaper today

You have to be careful with an impact gun. Some rusty looking bolts I'll break loose with a breaker bar first, a good impact gun could snap the heads off or round them off and I don't use them on my show chrome wheel nuts the jarring will take the chrome off the edges after a while. This is just on my Vette.

Just remember most are rated to run at 90psi and cranking up the pressure could cause damage.

Hi,
Believe it or not a few, (at least 1), of us are living without a compressor.
I do miss not having one!
Regards,
Alan

wow, between the 4 cars that are at my house with some leaky tires to fill and all the stuff I use the blow gun on and various air powered grinders. I would be in trouble, leave my charged up all the time. I almost broke down and got the nice automatic hose real from HF, but don't use it quite enough to justify the cost of one and the work of mounting it.

I work on some cars and would love a bigger impact gun to remove lug nuts, have a 240 ft/pd gun.but I am afraid of even breaking a newly installed bolt or wheel stud with a monster impact gun.I spray bolts with JB80 before removal..

I have a general rule about Harbor Freight...if whatever it is that I want from there is so cheap that I cannot reasonably justify NOT buying it, I will buy it from them. I don't buy their stuff if there's an American equivalent for a reasonable price, and sometimes it's surprising what is available if you look around a bit..

In addition to a 1/2" impact wrench for the heavy stuff, I have a 3/8" drive butterfly impact wrench. It is great for removing the smaller bolts, nuts, and screws. It has a scale of 0 to 10 for torque; I usually start at the lowest and work up so I don't damage anything. It really speeds up work and is much more versatile than my 3/8" air ratchet wrench.

The HF hose reel is a good buy and very useful to me. I can get the hose just about anywhere in my 3 car garage. When I'm done, it's real easy [no pun intended] to wind up the hose so it's out of the way.

I have a compressor, but I find an electric impact wrench is much more pleasant to work with. I am not sure how it knows, but my compressor always kicks on just as I am trying to do something delicate
