everything can be fixed, depends on how much $$$ you have
I didn't say you were going fast, just pointing out how this thread was about a top end build when you probably needed tires more. check the date codes on your tires, if they are older than 6 years, I would go back to the guy that said they were fine and give him hell
Well I personally have none. I have full coverage. So im just wondering if the autobody shop will declare it totaled since they would have to replace all the panels from doors back. Im worried they wont be able to find them and just say its totaled. They will also have to respray half of the car.
i wonder how Hagerty will handle the claim. Did you have an agreed value policy?
also, the body shop doesn't decide if it's totaled or not, the insurance adjuster will do an estimate on the repair, if its over 80% of the car's value, they will total it. it all depends on how nice your car is. if it's a $5,000 car, I would say it will be totalled
I dont know exactly what plan. I just know I had full coverage with all roadside towing covered. Hagerty values my car at 8k on there site. The whole interior carpet is new red.
Yes, a good body shop can easily replace a quarter panel, a partial section or most anything else on a Corvette.
With Hagerty, it will depend on the damage estimate compared to your agreed value price. Repair cost can vary greatly depending on the damage and the shop performing the repair.
For example, if the car is insured for $20k and the estimate is $7k,.... They will simply pay to have it repaired.
But if you have it insured for $10k and the estimate us $9k,....they would just total it.
Wow, you're lucky that tire didn't let go while you were doing your little 120 mph escapade a while ago! That would've really sucked! Well, if they total it, just use the money to shop around and buy another one. The parts you have already purchased will eventually go onto it's engine. Oh, and don't forget some new tires this time.
Yes I got very lucky. The cop that came to block traffic also had a 1972 vette lol she said If I would of blown 50 ft forward or 100 ft back and went off the hill I would of been dead. I got very lucky.
Yeah, it's a little late for this now, but for the benefit of anyone following this thread who doesn't already know it, a flat tire in a 'vette is not the same thing as a flat tire in a normal, steel-bodied car. Severe body damage can result, as planbmatt1 will tell you. With 'vettes, it's extra important to make sure you're running good tires. don't worry, matt, every dog has his day, suffering builds character, it's always darkest before the dawn, blah, blah, blah, you'll get through this.
It is not the same at all. Ive had a flat before in my jetta and I just rolled off to the side. In my vette it blew hit the ground shot off to the left. I spun slammed. It was totally different. Ill need all new panels from passemger door and back. Ill need a new passemger door. Ill aalso need new chrome skirts. Ebrake broke. Ill need new wheel and rim. Also a paint job. The cop said it looked like my rear axle was angled bad but well soon find out.
I think that's the difference between a tire just going flat and a tire blowing. If the tire just goes flat, you'll still have some semblance of control. If it blows, things can get a bit dicey, if ya know what I mean. It sounds like on your Jetta, the tire just went flat, but on your 'vette, it blew.
I get my insurance check in the mail tomorrow. Going to go look at this corvette. Whats your guys thoughts? With the extra money Im gonna do a supercharger build. This time thought start with tires lol
