Default Power window motor test with harness connected

I've replaced everything in my windows a few years ago and my passenger side window got stuck in the down position. Thought it was the switch, but it isn't. Took everything apart again and tested the motor with the harness plugged in. Will work one way but not the other when i move the switch up and down. Is it the relay under the consol which is bad? Is there a way to test the motor under load somehow? What is wrong?
Also I used lithium grease on the tracks last time but it seams very sticky now. Is it better to clean the tracks and leave them ungreased especially if i don't drive that much? I don't think i will use lithium any more. It attracts dust and dirt and I think leaving them ungreased will be better.

probably a broken wire going to the, right where they go into the loom from door post to door. Check for a good ground, it grounds thru the door and hinge to the birdcage. Use a test light or volt meter. Don't have one? BUY ONE!

If motor works in one direction...it is NOT the relay.

Can be the switch...unless you tested it with an ohm meter to verify it is working ny itself

Bad wire, connector is my thoughts. You should get 12 volts to the connector at the motor on one of the wires when the switch is pushed up...and 12 volts to the other wire when pushed down. Ground is OK becasue it is working in one direction.

Please forgive me but what is the birdcage and what does it look like? and how do I use the test light (ie. what wires do I connect it to)?

Do you know how a test light works??? Y/N

Do you know what "ground" means??? Y/N

DO you know how your power window motors work??? Y/N

The "birdcage" is a slang term used to describe the steel inner structure of your car BEFORE any body panels are attached. Part of your "birdcage" is the steel hinge post where your door hinges are attached. At this point...wiring passes through this post and goes to your doors.

but, no uses a volt meter or test light to check anything, they just ask questions. If you are going to work on electrical problems, you need to know how to test things, its very easy.

It's ok I know how to use a volt metre and a test light, but what I did not know was that I hooked up the part they sold me incorrectly. You see, I thought you would hook up the brown wire to brown, the blue to blue and the red to red. This is not the case. So you can throw your test lights in the garbage and all the knowledge you have out the window, nothing would help you in this situation. Have a look.

Nice.
So you have to the new red to the old black, new blue to old red and new brown to old blue.
Something you may or may not know: the window motor has 2 contacts on it, 1 is up and the other is down and the case is ground.

I am quite "chill".

Often times it is really hard to read the skill and knowledge level of a person. If they have tools and know how to use them or are (we) having to teach them what end of a screwdriver to use.

I understand it is also often a LEARNING experience for many members who rely on US to help them. My questions were valid questions. Because before I get seriously into describing potential areas of failure,...I kinda needed to know where the owner head was at. Because if he knew basic electrical principals...he should have been able to figure it out by himself...which led to my questions. Because the year of Corvette makes a big difference. Wiring changed designs and that is that. Just posting in the C3 section means nothing...state the year....and I know many would agree...it helps knowing what year...right off the bat.

I have NO PROBLEM with a member on the forum not having any knowledge and wanting to learn. A matter of fact...I encourage it. My questions were merely a litmus test so I (we) knew how to talk to him and describe thing so he would learn and hopefully appreciate the fact that he fixed it and now understands how some things work.

I can not assume that every member who posts questions knows everything.....because if they did....why would they post anything at all...right???
