Exhaust:
How far down do the stock headers go? Are these stock?
I need to replace what's on the car as it's currently cut off prior to the rear tires. It's pretty loud inside the car and highway driving is rough after awhile.
Steering:
I have some play in the steering wheel, not a lot, but you can turn a little before it kicks in. What would cause this and how would I fix it.
LOL, No those are not stock at all. The car came with cast iron manifolds, Y-Pipes, a cat and 2 mufflers.
Cut all that junk out of there and start over, many many choices for a few hundred$.
As to the steering, check all the joints and see where its bad, shouldn't be much play in there, you may be about to lose a ball joint or a tie rod

That's what I thought, when I got under there it looked more like long tubes.
Any recommendations for a full kit?
The car is going to be a weekend cruiser, no drag or road race. Just pleasure driving.
You better check and make sure Ohio does not require emission equipment inspection when an inspection is performed. Regardless if the car gets an emission test...the emissions equipment is supposed to be there and intact....and some States still want it in place. If needed: they do make a "2-in and 2-out" catalytic converter....so it can be installed where the two pipes run side by side where the original catalytic converter was located.
Sloppy steering can also be a worn out "rag-joint" or steering coupling.

Vehicle 25 years old is exempt from testing, plus my county doesn't do the e-check anymore.

I would replace the headers and use a wrap if you can justify the cost as it will save you in plug wires later. If you are looking for an aggressive sound there will be a lot of options. My definition of a cruiser is a car that you can talk in or answer a phone call at road speed. That is harder to find the right muffler to allow. Take it to a good exhaust place and ask them for their quietest mufflers. Otherwise, they will take one look at it and assume you want it to sound like a Harley.
