If you properly set your car to bed in the winter you do not need to start it up at all and they can sit for 6 months without a problem.

Few tips if you do not do it already is use StaBil Fuel Treatment to keep the fuel fresh, I also like to put a few ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil and a bottle of HEET into the tank. I put this stuff into the fuel tank than drive it around for about 30 miles then top the tank off to full this reduces the air in the tank and prevents condensation and rust in the fuel tank. If you do not use a Float Charger than buy a battery disconnect switch that mounts on the battery terminal so your battery does not die in the months it is parked.

The Marvel Mystery Oil will lube all of your carburetor seals and the HEET will help keep condensation to a minimum and StaBil will keep the fuel from becoming Varnish in the Tank. If the car gets below 32 Degrees it is also a good idea to put a Winter Time -20 Degree Windshield Washer fluid into to the reservoir so it does not freeze.

If I am going to start up my 1977 I make sure I take it out even in the winter time on a nice day for at least 20 minutes which turns out to be about an hour. Even in Colorado we have days in the winter time that are over 50 degrees outside and the snow melts fairly fast out here. I keep my distance from cars in front of me because there is always some sand and salt on the roads this time of year. I also take it out on less traveled roads so not many cars are out in front of me. In the winter if weather permits

I will generally drive it about 3 or 4 times in the 6 months it usually sits from October till May. I park my older cars in October then it is not until May when I start to really drive them again. Main thing is the debris on the roads that keep me from driving because I do not want others to kick up sand and salt on the car then crack my windshield or sand blast the front of the car.

I always top off the fuel tank again before parking it to keep the air in the tank limited and prevents condensation
