I have a 71 that I bought crashed in the right side. The right front weel was damaged, the right lower arm too, and the "thing" were the lower arm goes atached, in its rear part. So I changed almost everything. But that "thing" was just bent back to position (not by me), but not exactly, its about 1 cm to the center of the car... so the lower arm its not exactly in the right position...
Can it be safely aligned?
I would like to leave ti like that, at least for a couple of years! The lower arm shaft was replaced! its new!
You really need an alignment shop that has experience with older Corvettes to determine if they can get the lower arm to fit well enough for an alignment.
Wait for experienced members to give you better advice.
Hi jg,
I noticed what Z saw too.
Do you know why that rear wheel is pointed at such an odd angle?
Maybe you just have it sitting there and the lug nuts aren't tightened?
I hope….
If not, you have more things to repair before you think about before an alignment.
I think perhaps the front frame horn has been bent.

Alan
The rear weel was repaired! Trailing arm was bent too, I bought new trailing arms both sides, theres no problem there now.
I did not check the whole frame... maybe theres something more...
I hope I wont need to change many things... there aint good repair shops here... and its hard to get spare parts. I looking a simple solution but safe too!
I will mesure distances and see if theres more things bented. Also I'll teke some pictures to explain the problem better.
Thanks for the help!
Sounds like it would be a good Idea to have this car taken to a body shop and have the chassis measured. No alignment it he world is going to get around a frame that is out of spec.
Hi,
From the first picture it looks to me like both the front and rear wheels hit something, hard enough and at a high enough speed, that the front and rear suspension was pushed past the bump stops so that frame damage was done and the wheel arches were cracked.
You may have replaced that trailing arm, but the wheel is still pointing to the side a scary amount.
Regards,
Alan
I've got the car aligned, it's within specs. The right lower a arm support it's definetly bent, but the car is safe and the rest it's ok.
They couldn't align the rear end, fortunately it's not out of tolerance. They don't have the shims for the trailing arms, I'll see if I can get some in the
Yep, you're right!
But I don't think that I could find one here... and the shipping of a chassis from US to Chile it's quite expensive!
I'll try cheaper possibilities, if there's nothing else to do, I'll might have to do the investment!
