Default Interior questions

So I got the power steering system replaced, and got my new clutch fan on which took care of all the heat issues. Now she runs about 140 -160 degrees all the time which is great.

Now it's time to start on the interior. I found on ecklers where they seem to have the correct 1978 oyster carpet and floor mats. I am hoping these match since they are from two different suppliers. My question is about the floor mats. Which logo is correct for a factory Mat? Can I use the Stringray logo, i thought that was for earlier cars like pre 1974?

Any input on the carpet install would be much appreciated.

Thanks Brent

"Stingray" was not used for your Corvette (1978). You can use what you LIKE....it IS your Corvette. The word "CORVETTE" in the same font as your rear bumper emblem on the floor mats is what I have seen mostly.

I prefer the thin rubber mats. They do not impair the accelerator pedal travel...but that is just me...and having carpeted mats strictly for show.

Carpet is "easy" and FUN all at the same time. Getting the side console fiberboard strips correctly shaped and fitted BEFORE you go and glue on carpet is important. Because if you don't get these correct...you can have fit issues when putting them in.....obviously.

Getting the carpet on the rear compartment doors is also a precise procedure...so the bezel will correctly fit and allow the doors to function.

When installing the rear carpet..you want to make sure it is as far back as possible...so if you have to trim it so the rear compartment frame assembly can be installed...you do not have the carpet pull out from under the rear compartment frame over time because you did not get it back far enough.

Your door sill area will set the front carpet...so hopefully it has been made correctly. The rigid white/clear plastic retainer sewn onto the carpet may or may not be in the right spot.

Gluing the carpets on your kick plates will take two coats of glue and allow to dry so you can heat it up with a heat gun and apply the carpet so it will hold in the sharp bend that the carpet will have to make to fit the contour of the kick plate at the bottom of it. MAKE SURE you test fit the carpet and trim BEFORE you apply the glue. This is unless you have the correct style of stapler to do this without any glue.

Take your time with the rear speaker covers also.
