I have read through most of the interior light threads for my 80 and want to be sure my diagnosis is correct. When you open the drivers door the lights come on, close the door and they stay on for 30 secs and shutoff. I believe that confirms the timer is working as it should. However when I open the passenger door or turn the headlight **** fully counterclockwise I get nothing. I am thinking there is a problem with the headlight switch and the switch in the passengers door frame. Is this correct or is it possible something else could be wrong?
You are correct. It is either a dirty headlight switch that is not allowing you to turn on your interior lights...bad ground...or the switch is bad.
The jamb switch and or wiring is the culprit of the lights not coming on when the door is open on the passenger side. The switch can be checked and also if the signal of ground is getting to the interior timer controller.
