Default rear shocks

I am planning on replacing my shocks on my 68' starting with the rear. Any suggestions on brand/type etc. I cant spend the big bucks so I'm looking for a good quality shock that will last without braking the bank.

A good bang for the buck is the KYB Gas-A-Just shocks.

No they are not bilstein but they also do not bring the price tag either.

I have bilstein on my C3 but have the KYB Gas-A-Just on my truck.

If you have not gone to a mono leaf rear spring, then the KYB gas-a-just's are a very good shock. They are worth the extra money over the GR2's.

Monroe. Good product. No frills. No breaking the bank.

I put AC Delco shocks on the front ....it's just a street cruiser .....no SCA type stuff

But...... I did install an unusual set of GM rear shocks ...probally rare part now..but they were GM HD off road

I still have a very unusual set of shocks I bought 25 years ago on the back of my corvette.
I ordered them from the Chevy parts dept .....from a Chevy HIGH Performance parts catalog ....that they GM published back then ...with all kinds of GM special off road parts . .....read racing ....

These shocks were listed as the "Daytona " setup. shock for C3 Vettes ....I thought what the hell , I ll order them...... I think I paid a good amount , can't remember ...but the parts guys were impressed when they arrived, they were like ,,....man...they look like they go on 1 ton truck . Nobody there could pull them open .....

So they are still on the car.....and ...still working well......my teeth rattle when I hit a bump.

Installed Sensa Tracs all the way around. Just a DD. No frills.

Sensa-Tracs or Gas-Matics will do fine for a few years. If you want better service life, you'll have to ante up for the better shocks.

I will install AC delco on mine next week. I'll tell you if the (low) cost is worth it.

summit supplied me with Monroe Sensa-Tracs for my 72

funny story, thought the car felt floaty and rough beforehand
i thinks to myself, better just order some new shocks,
as i have to order from overseas, they will take a while to get here,
when i got around to changing the others out,
turns out i had Koni Classic adjustables on the car in the first place
they probably just needed adjustment......

i should have looked before i lept

oh well, happy with the ride with the Monroe's as it's just a weekend cruiser.
put Koni's on the shelf for spares / later on if spirited driving is needed
