If its a white, white like a steam and not a grey white, then your burning water. Since the heads were pulled, you probably have a coolant leak. If you have a coolant system pressure tester, you can pressurize the system to confirm it. You can also pull the spark plugs, spin it over to see which cylinder spits some water out the plug hole. Check the oil to see if water is mixing with it, you don't want to destroy your bearings.
It smells like oil, I don't think it is water, it doesn't smell sweet. And it doesn't use water But we will check.
Maybe it is grey white.......not black.
If it has an automatic transmission, the modulator valve on the side of the trans. could be defective causing trans fluid to be sucked into the engine thru the vacuum line.....it will make an oilysmelling whitish smoke.

If you remove the vacuum line from the tube on the accumulator, you may see trans fluid dripping from the vacuum line or the accumulator....the accum. would need to be replaced even if it isn't the main cause of the smoking.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS......it's a MODULATOR/not an accumulator...........sorry about the wrong word!

Peter just call, he took off the hose, no oil inside the hose. He started the car without the hose attached to the modulator, still a lof of smoke.
So the modulator is ok ??
From: Las Vegas - Just stop perpetuating myths please.
White smoke is normally water/coolant but i have heard of trans fluid/oil smoking white also - even just dripping onto the exh pipes.
Each cyl in the block is surrounded by water and the oil return cavities in the heads are a lot further away from the cyls. Normally if a head gasket leaks it will use coolant long before oil. It only takes a little debre on the block deck or head surface to start a leak. Heads and block deck need to be squeaky clean before installing head gaskets. Clean enough to see the machine marks left on the block deck (but not remove any of them). Many head gasket require sealer too.
Peter needs to monitor his fluid levels and see where the source is. Removing and reading the spark plugs might help here.
Also can he see bubbles in the radiator (looking before it gets too hot)?

Hi,
Thanks for the input, I will tell Peter.
But it is a bit funny, before he took his heads of, is was "fine", it used a bit of oil, but if was nothing compared to today. I think I will ask Peter to take a Picture for you all to see.
Well that's a "little" more smoke than what's acceptable
In the picture it looks blue to me? It's easy to smell if its burning antifreeze and the same with gasoline smoke. To bad smells can't be transmitted over the internet, right?
I'd start by removing the intake and see if there is oil in the intake runners (to check for leaky intake gaskets).

We just removed the intake, there is oil in the runners !!

That is why we took some pictures, so you all could see the color.
