What is the difference?
My tie rod end puller has a slight cone on the threaded rod so it goes on the threaded end of the tie rod. My gear pullers have a sharp point on them to the usually index in a the hole in the end of the shaft.
I use pickle forks, my tie rod end puller when doing a PRE-1984 suspension. I KNOW this does not apply in the 1963 to 1982 Corvettes,,,,BUT...if and when you begin to work on 1984 to 1996 and later. BEATING on parts is NOT acceptable due to they are aluminum.....and having eh very specific tools to break things apart is what is required.
I also work on Corvettes with painted and power coated parts...so beating on them is also not advisable.
I KNOW that there is a thick flat spot for striking the suspension with a hammer to shock it....and you can do it if you like....because I have seen it a jillion times....I just choose NOT to.
