I've been noticing when I take off in my 82' I feel a shutter for just a second or two and have checked all the mechanicals in the engine which is fine. So I was reading around and found that the torque convertor could be causing this. Could this be true??
There is a lockup clutch in the torque converter. The trans will make a shift and then shift into lockup while in that same gear. You will feel a slight drop in rpm when the L/U clutch engages. It's normal (if that is what you are feeling).

No that's not what I'm feeling. That part is fine. What I'm feeling is from a stop and taking off there is a light shutter that only last a couple of seconds. I feel it only in 1st gear.
Sounds like 1st clutch slipping a little, Is it worse if you nail the throttle?
Hmm.. never noticed so probably not. I've heard and read that the 1st generation 700R4 were not very dependable so that could be it. 3 years ago I had the car at a reputable tranny shop for the chugging sensation (different story) and they dropped the pan and told me the trans would not make it much longer because of the metallic speckles in the fluid. I've only put maybe 1500 miles on it since then so that could be it??
