Well I replaced the interior wiring harness in my 71 along with the engine harness and power window harness. The only thing that isnt working is the wipers/door. When I turn the wipers on I hear a click under the hood but nothing moves. When I turn the wiper switch off I get a shock...any help would be appreciated.
I can help you...but you need to PM me so I can give you my chop phone number so we can talk and you check some things. It would take me hours of typing to give you everything to check...but phone calls will make it go quickly.
Hi HT,
Have you tried pulling the vacuum over-ride switch under the steering column? It's the one on the right.
If that opens the door you can be sure it's an electrical problem.
With the door open try turning the **** in the middle (next to the over-ride). You may have turned the **** counter clock wise with the wipers in the park position which stops the wipers wherever they are.
Next, with the door open and **** turned clockwise push the button on the safety interlock switch mounted on the firewall to the right of the wiper motor. That switch sends power to the wiper motor
Finally….. call Dub!
Regards,
Alan
check the plug connector on the back of the wiper switch in the dash.
even tho it is supposed to only go on one way around, it can fit both ways with effort.
i had a couple of shocks thru mine when i had center dash apart,
found the plug on the switch on the wrong way.
I turned the over ride switch today and the wiper motor seemed to do something but then smoke started coming out between the stainless steal piece that runs along the front of the windshield and the the windshield itself. I quickly disconnected the battery. I could not find any damaged wires, thank God! New harness..that would really be bad.
