Default '73 Starter Wire Gauge??

I have searched and I have discovered a conflict in answers.
L-48//4 speed//Air conditioned//Points//Condenser.
So--
Here we go--
"S" terminal--purple wire--gauge?
"B" terminal--small red--gauge?
"R" terminal--yellow wire--gauge?
And--
What size are the "eye" terminals that connect these wires to the starter?

Thank you,
Bob

Do you have a wiring diagram???

The size of the eyelet hole is the one that will fit it. When you get the starter out....you will see. I do not know what size right off the top of my head.

The purple wire is a 12 gauge....I do know that.
The small red is more than likely a fusible link...and NOT a wire....but I do not have my wiring diagram with me.

Thanks, DUB.
I do have a wiring diagram from the 1973 Service Manual.
This is what it indicates:
Purple=12 gauge.
Small red=12 gauge.
Yellow=20 gauge.

The problem is that I have seen MANY write ups that indicate other gauge (usually thicker) wires are being used.
I thought I might be missing something. (Not that unusual for me!)

Be safe.

Your awg values are correct. But those are for braided copper wire. If you use some other type of wire, you might want to go a bit larger.
