Default Boiling Over

I am curious to know if anyone here (I'm there are) has experienced the same issue that I'm having with my power steering setup. Couple of details about the car:

72 Corvette 454, Edelrock Aluminum Heads, Doug's headers, Borgeson PS box, March Performance Serp with remote PS res.

The issue I'm having is that the PS fluid is getting way to hot (it's boiling and leaking out the PS res lid). One fix we're currently working on is coating the headers (JetHot 2500). However, the clearance from the header to the PS box is tight. Has anyone else installed a Borgeson in their BB and had temp issues with the fluid? Will hi temp fluid help with this and if so any brand suggestions?

How about covering the side of the box closest to the engine with a high-temp insulated wrap........starter wrap should be big enough to protect the box. Then drain the pump and refill with hi-temp fluid.

No big block, but using the Jeep box and hydroboost. I use a PS cooler. I am putting a lot of heat in with work, so trying to take some back out. Mine does fine.

Good suggestion DG, I see Summit has stuff that comes in sheets with sticky backing...rec'd good ratings so I may use that to cover the steering box. After dealing with this I kinda regret not going with the rack & pin but it is what it is.

BTW - been following your build thread, nice work.

Interesting, I may look into that if my other abatement efforts are not satisfactory. Thanks for the response.

Thanks Ranger24......after reading about the OEM & rebuilt leaking p/s cylinders, faulty centering valves, etc......I've been checking out the p/s box conversion kit since my car has manual steering. The p/s coolers (I think my SUV has an electric fan-cooler for the p/s) sound like a good idea and they don't take up much space in the grill area, along with the p/s box wrap (or a heat deflector shield between the box and the exhaust manifold).

I like Gunner's idea of a sheet metal shield (try saying that fast three times) similar to a starter shield.
