Default Some Q

Hello Everybody
Calling You from Sweden.
Same Q about a -69 conv
Q:
Whats the difference between an early and a late one. I Think I have an early one. I have a "circular" actuator for wiper door. I have had some problems with the wiper motor. Any differences between -68 and -69, early and late?????
With best regards Lennart Björnerhag

I don't claim to be an expert on Corvette trivia, but I believe my '69 is an early model. It's got the barrel shaped wiper door actuator, and the side windows have different mounting details compared to the later C3 side windows.
That's about the limit of my knowledge of the differences between an early and a later '69.

One clue is the ***** on the air vents. My early has rectangular. Later are spherical. I also had the cylindrical actuator. Somewhere on this forum or in cyberspace was a post as to how to find your build date from your VIN. Did that once I will poke around a bit to see if I can find that again.

Hi LB,
Talking to someone in Sweden!!!!! Cool!!!!
If I may…..I'll suggest you order a copy of the NCRS "68-69 Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide".
That book is probably the best single source of information about the parts that changed during 69 production, the approximate dates for when a part changed, and the build number point (vin) when the part changed. You'll find there is a VAST amount of other information about 68 and 69 cars in it too.
It's not cheap to buy but I think you'll find it VERY useful and informative.
You DON'T need to be a NCRS member to buy it. You can order it at the 'store' on the NCRS site, or by contacting the NCRS 'office' in Cincinnati Ohio.
Regards,
Alan

Any pictures of this Swedish Convertible?

Thank You for the fast answer I Think I have to order that manual. It is important for me to have matching number and matching parts. I have tried to send some Pictures to You but I am not sure they were attached. It is a White one with black roof and red interior.

Hi Lennart,
YES!
The pictures are easy to see.
It looks like you have a NICE 69 convertible.
From the pictures it appears some things have bben changed over the years but the book I suggested will help you determine what your car was like when it was new.
Parts for 69 cars are quite easy to find here but will be more difficult to get to Sweden. So you'll need to have some patience in finding the proper parts for your car.
Thanks for the pictures!
Regards,
Alan

1969 Stingray Guidebook
by Rick Bizzoco

I own a second design '69, built September 11, 1969 and I found the above book extraordinarily informative. Do an internet search as there are other places to buy this soft cover encyclopedia of everything '69 Corvette. It has been in print for 20 years.

Default Congratulations!

Congratulations! Very Nice Corvette!

The wiper doors and wiper system on 68 thru 72 C3's are entertaining to work on to say the least, my wife commented that she had never seen anybody get so excited about windshield wipers when I finally got my 68 wipers to work.

Agree with Alan, NCRS judging book is very good to understand 68 & 69. Also good is a book named Corvette 1968-1982 Restoration Guide by Richard Prince. Original factory GM service manuals can be found on ebay.

Wilcox Corvette has some very useful info online.
http://repairs.willcoxcorvette.com/category/wiper/
The 68 and 69 have quite different wiring setups, search here and there are a number of articles to troubleshoot. I thought the 68 wiper door actuator is a cylinder (similar to a coffee can) and the 69 wiper door actuator was similar to 2 small pie plates fastened together, not sure exactly when the change occurred.

Finally, this is without question the best help forum around, great people and super knowledge very willing to help.

All the best!
