I've read about some folks on this forum using a product called Reflectix from your local big box home improvement store. A quick search came up with several threads on the subject.
Here's one of them:

Default Reflectix works for me.

I have installed Reflectix (sp?) from Lowe's hardware store in a couple of C3's and have been happy with the results. Reflectix comes in a roll, and looks like bubble wrap with a foil. You have to cut it to fit. It is a great economical choice I think. BTW, I suggest you also do all of the other heat stopping stuff too, under the Corvette tunnel insulation, seal up the fire wall holes, side vents, shutoff valve in heat core, ect.

hope this helps.

You want a metal surface. Its what spreads the heat across a large area.

The pro touring shop I use love the DEI Floor & Tunnel Shield II inside.

I used it underneath and used Vettenuts on the inside.

That foil [metal] surface in insulation reflects 'radiant' heat; the bubble-wrap (air pockets) provide insulation from heat 'conduction'. Reflectix is a decent and inexpensive alternative for under-carpet insulation. It's downside is that the air pockets eventually pop and lose their insulating qualities over time.

Jute insulation was installed at the factory to limit heat transfer into the passenger compartment. When new, it is a spongy fiberous mat that is efficient at limiting conduction heat. If you could find jute padding that has a foil reflective layer on it, that would be good to use. Jute will eventually compress, too; but that would take many years...especially if it is kept dry.

You might be able to find some inexpensive jute padding (3/8" - 1/2" thick) at some carpet supply stores. I think some of the Corvette parts supply places are now selling it with foil backing.
