ive been working on my 72 and the other day I turned on the wipers they ran fine in both speeds. when I turned them of they kept going. I kept moving the switch back and forth and they finally quit and went to the park position. I changed the switch thinking that might be the problem. now they wont come back on with the new or old switch and the override doesnt work either. the fuse is ok. the wiper door opens fine. what the heck did I do? I checked the linkage and nothing is bound up. do these motors have the card in them that can be changed? thanks peter
I have it on there just like the picture. I do believe this is the original wiper motor and it finally gave up.
The actual motor seldom goes bad.
There are multiple switches and grounds that must be checked though.
Search the forum and you'll quickly find a wiring diagram and vacuum diagram to troubleshoot the issue.

Just a hunch here.. You are trying this with the wiper switch either mounted in the wiper switch plate and out of the dash... or you're trying this with just the wiper switch plugged into the connector.
If you are trying the test either of the two ways above you must run a ground from the mounting hole to the car. The wiper switch requires a ground which is provided by the wiper switch plate when it is mounted through the dash bezel center. See the note in the picture below.

thank you for your reply. I downloaded your tutorial last night and this morning checked every thing starting with the limit switch. the jumper made the the wiper motor work. I installed the new vacuum solenoid. heres how it goes. I pull the override ,door opens then I have to activate the wiper switch on the dash. I have both high and low wipers. when I shut the switch off the wipers park and the door closes. then I shut the override off. ive changed every vacuum switch, and all the vacuum lines but even with the new vacuum solenoid I still cant get them to work just using the dash switch. this is quite the challenge. peter

Sounds like your wiper park switch (vacuum switch) located just under the passenger wiper arm is not working/plumbed/adjusted correctly.
