Default In a Corvette I was wrote 80+ even though doing 120+

Naturally all of the preacher types are jumping in on this thread! The hypocrites and Saints!!!!!! So back to the "I got caught stories, please!

My disposition with the Officers was the only thing that made them cut me that big break (and the Senior Officer said he was a car guy)! Plus I was actually the only one on the entire freeway!!!!!!!!!!!

My biggest adventure going to jail for speeding was in the mid 1980's on a Crotch Rocket Suzuki GS-750E, where I passed a Highway Patrol new Pursuit Mustang at about 143mph, is what they claimed to have clocked me at. I didn't know they were chasing me, until I was off of the Freeway stopped at a red light and they came flying at me from their chase, from the off Ramp! Got arrested, bike impounded, and had to deal with a Wet Reckless on my record!

I was also arrested and charged with a reckless. They took blood to see if I was on drugs or alcohol and kept me around for 8 hours waiting for results. When i came back clean I was released on my own recognizance and later on my court date......... I lost my license for 6 months except for to and from work. Driving school and a $1000 fine.

It was not a good experience

I think we all agree that if you do something like this, you do it at your own risk (and sometimes somebody else's too). Hopefully you are smart enough to mitigate that risk but there are always things that are out of your control. I don't need a sermon from the pulpit to know that I don't need to repeat the stupid things I did 42 years ago. I like to think that the point of this thread is to explain that we did some crazy things and hopefully learned from them. Although I still love a good burn out (got tickets for both Loud and Excessive Noise and Unsafe Start).

So far at slightly over 55, I haven't hurt any civilians! And your daughter on her cell phone in the fast lane or any teenager to early 20 year old in a new Mustang, CAmaro, Camry, Mini Cooper, etc. is more dangerous than me alone at 3am at 150+ mph or running the rides through my Canyons!

Ya. I see that crap on the highway, or people with a book on the steering wheel during rush hour, or makeup ,or shaving, or eating with 2 hands and driving with the knee. All sorts of crap. It doesn't justify me going fast. I'm talking 70-90mph on the highway.
I dont trust me, the car or the deer to go stupid fast until I find a track nearby.

I keep it close to the limits for the most part unless I'm passing now adays

We have long ago killed all of the deer, bears, etc. That used to stray onto the freeways! The biggest danger I guess are a lot of the Orientals, making for a very Grand Turismo ride home daily!

Urban sprawl is pushing all sorts of critters into the neighborhood around here. Bears, deer, coyote, bobcat, mountain lion and cougar. Rarely saw xeer when I was a kid. Now I pray I don't

Urban sprawl is attracting them. The deer herd has exploded in Connecticut in for decades because they are attracted to the farms and suburban landscaping. They are definitely something I keep in the back of my mind when speeding safely.

A speedometer re calibration! The symptoms of your post prove out my diagnosis of your misperspective on your actual speed!

My post? it's called sarcasm. I couldn't give a chit how fast you go.
I looked for a (sarcasm) emoticon but I still can't find one.

But it was meant to be funny or written with sarcasm in mind!

But then I do often see Corvettes putting along in the right lanes (slow lanes on the freeway, and those aren't necessarily running 4.11 rear axles)! I have never understood that! When I get on the freeway it is right to the lane where I can go the quickest!

But then on older cars especially, I have seen a lot of out of calibration speedos!

Yes, it was meant to be funny.
There is a reason why I have a supercharged engine, TKO-600 trans and a 3.08 rear ratio. It's definitely not to go slow.

My dreamcar gas a blower like that. Mmmmmmmm. Blower. There was an 80s movie thata high school kid had a 68-69 GTO with a big *** blower sticking out of the hood like yours. Someday.

I got my someday vette so the blower car is next. Guess I could get another 69 GTO and make what I want, or another vette......
The movie was My Science Project

"I have never understood that" (old corvettes in the slow lane)- maybe it's because after spending a thousand hours and tens of thousands of dollars rebuilding a classic car the owner appreciates the real value of things. I suppose it's just the opposite for the young kid working at McDonalds to pay for his pride and joy who goes darting in and out of lanes looking for a wreck. Notice the word "wreck", not "accident"- a distinction often made by my high school driver's ed class in 1963. By the way-that was probably me in the slow lane.
