Default Brake light reset

The brake warning light came on because of a leaking front caliper. I refilled reservoir and bled front brakes. Light stays on. Do I have to bleed rear brake also to release valve. Car is a 75.

Do you have a solid pedal and does it stop well? Also make sure the parking brake isn't pulled, it uses the same light.

You have to bleed the brakes. Then, you have to panic stomp the brake pedal to get the shuttle valve to re-center in the distribution block. Until that light goes out, the shuttle valve is only allowing 1/2 of your braking system to function.

If I open the rear brakes shouldn't that release the pressure from the rear that caused the shuttle valve to move off center thereby re-centering the valve?

Nope. There is no pressure in either line until the brakes are applied. It will just stay right there. Just do it.

You dont even need to drive it to reset it. Just get in and press the brake pedal HARD. It doesnt need to be a fast jab just apply REALLY FIRM PRESSURE with the key on you'll see the light go out.
